Practice policies and agreements for telehealth psychiatry in Washington State

Communication

  • Patient portal messages: response typically 3–5 days (non-urgent needs)

  • Between visits: use patient portal for non-urgent messages and scheduling

  • Emergency/urgent needs:
     call 911. Immediate support:  call/text 988.

Cancellations

  • Cancel/reschedule < 48 hours: cancellation fee applies ($50 / 30-min | $100 / 60-min)

  • No-shows/late cancellations: repeated occurrences may lead to a transition of care

  • Visit start time: session may be shortened if unable to start on time

Prescriptions

  • Refills: addressed during scheduled visit

  • Between-visit refills: request through patient portal; allow up to 7 business days

  • Repeated refill requests outside of visits may incur a service fee 

Telehealth

  • Location requirement: must be physically in WA State at time of visit

  • Technology: private setting and stable connection required

  • Not for emergencies: crisis care is not provided via telehealth
